🚦OPT OUT DEADLINE
This Saturday we head to Sudley for our BLUE DIVISIONAL MEET vs the Sudley Seahorses and the Piedmont Tsunamis. If you will not be at the meet, please OPT OUT by tomorrow, Monday July 20th! RSVPing is critical so that our coaches can plan appropriately and place swimmers in the events that best support both individual and team success. If you know your swimmer will be absent but do not opt out, their absence on meet day could jeopardize a relay team, potentially preventing three other swimmers from having the opportunity to compete.

One last push for volunteers!
A huge thank you to all our volunteers this season, who have shown up again and again! So many of you have gone above and beyond this season, well surpassing our minimum required hours. We so very much appreciate all your dedication! This team runs because of you, and we don't take that for granted.
With that gratitude in mind, we have one more ask for volunteers for the season. We still have quite a few CRITICAL slots open for the final meet of the season, Divisional Meet at Sudley this Saturday, July 25th. This includes SEVEN out of our required EIGHT third shift TIMERS, as well as one RUNNER for shift three. We also have a need for TWO more second shift timers.

Because this is such a big meet, we have been asked to provide our list of volunteers to the host a few days prior to the meet. We cannot wait to fill volunteer slots the day of the meet. Therefore, I am asking that all slots be filled by 4pm Wednesday, July 22. If I get all the slots filled by 4pm Sunday; I will draw a name for two Urban Air tickets.
If these slots are not filled by that time, I will assign people to those shifts to ensure the meet can happen smoothly. I'd like to avoid assigning people to slots; and with this team's track record of stepping up to help, I know I can avoid that. I understand many of you are reluctant to volunteer for the later shifts, but a small secret- the third shift at these meets held at pools with eight lanes tends to go quite quickly and there is a good possibility the third shift will be the shortest....

If your swimmer competed in a meet, please look for ribbon boxes located near the clerk of course area at morning practice. Each family has a folder. Folders are labeled in alphabetical order.

Social: Team Tactics
Monday, July 20: 4-6pm
3045 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge
Attendees must RSVP and submit payment ahead of the event. Cost to attend is $23 per participant and will include 3 laser tag missions. Payment can be made via Zelle using email address makos.financial@gmail.
Team Tactics is designed for ages 7 and up. Younger kids may attend but may require assistance from a parent or older kid. Parents of swimmers under age 12 please remain on-site. All participants must wear closed toe shoes.

Mini Mako Meet
Tuesday, July 21 5:30-7:30pm
Our developing swimmers have worked so hard this season and this is their opportunity to shine! All Mini-Makos and 8 and under swimmers are invited to participate. Mini-Makos DO NOT need to opt-in or opt-out of this event. 8 and under swimmers who have competed in meets DO need to opt-in to participate.
We also need our older Makos to help run the meet and cheer them on! This is a fun opportunity for swimmers to serve as timers and recorders. We will be celebrating Taco Tuesday with special concessions items for sale during the meet.
END OF SEASON COACHES GIFT

END OF SEASON BANQUET
Saunders Middle School
Sunday, July 26th
Start: 10:00 AM
End: 12:00 PM
Everyone is invited to celebrate the end of our 2026 season with brunch and awards at Saunders Middle School. We will have pancakes and other breakfast foods catered by our local IHOP. Juice and coffee will be provided, but please bring a water bottle for your own H2O consumption. The coaches will be presenting each swimmer with a medal. We will all enjoy the annual photo slide show and cheer for the winners of the yearly awards like age-group High Point, Most Improved, Spirit Awards, and the Makos Of The Year.
