Makos Finally Friday!

It's FINALLY Friday! We can’t wait to see those first splashes of the season tomorrow!

🎉 Announcement

Congratulations to Sheila Keim, this week’s concessions donation raffle winner! Enjoy your parking spot at the clubhouse tomorrow.

📣 Pep Rally Tonight

Join us tonight for an Italian style “Red-Out” potluck at the clubhouse as we get pumped up for our first meet against the Sudley Seahorses!

Coaches will lead fun activities for swimmers after dinner.

Wear your red Makos gear or shirt, and bring your team spirit!

We still need help with:

  • Bringing food
  • Cleaning up after the Pep Rally (volunteer hours available)

Volunteer hours are awarded for:

  • Event setup
  • Serving food
  • Cleanup

Note: Bringing a dish does not qualify for volunteer hours.

Bring your own hydration as we will not supply drinks--if you or your family plan to eat, please sign up to bring a dish.

The pool remains open to MBW residents until 8:00 PM, so we’ll be sharing the parking lot. Families may begin setting up personal tents for tomorrow’s meet at 6:00 PM tonight.  After the pep rally, we’ll set up the deck for the swim meet.

🏊 Home Meet vs. Sudley

Meet Files are available on the SwimTopia app to view your swimmer’s latest events, heat, and lane assignments. https://makos.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

Our swimmer check-in team will write the event number, heat, and lane information on the swimmer’s arm tomorrow when they check-in. Review the Home Meet Timeline and Swim Meet Tips if you’re new or need a refresher. Please no hair or body paint as these products can damage the pool.

Ensure your swimmer is wearing a Makos team suit or red/black suit with Makos team cap only. We will have caps available at concessions, if needed. Don't forget your googles!

Volunteer spots are still available.

Meet-Day Schedule

5:45 AM: Swimmer Check-in deadline

6:05 AM: Swimmers on deck for warm-ups

6:30 AM: Volunteer check-in deadline (must check-in to receive job sticker and volunteer credit)

Parking

Parking at the clubhouse is by pass only. If you qualify, check-in with the parking marshal located at the intersection of Superior Court and Meadowgate.

If you do not have a pass:

  • Do not block driveways or mailboxes
  • Park at least 15 feet from mailboxes and stop signs
  • Keep all four wheels on pavement

🧹 Post-Meet Clean-up

Cleanup goes quickly when everyone pitches in. For tomorrow’s meet, families with last names A–L are asked to stay and help after the meet.

Volunteers seeking credit should:

  • Check in with Director of Meet Operations, Leslie Rhodes, for an assignment
  • Check out with Leslie once the task is complete to receive volunteer credit

🏊 Meet Reminders

Coaching During Races

Per PWSL rules, swimmers may not receive coaching from anyone—including parents—once a heat begins. Cheer loudly, but please do not give technical instructions such as “touch with two hands” or “stay on your back.” Coaching during a race may result in a disqualification at the Referee’s discretion.

Photography Restrictions

No cameras, phones, or recording devices are permitted behind the starting end of any race. This restriction also applies to relay starts and pools that flip the start end for 25-meter events. These rules align with USA Swimming Safe Sport guidelines.

Facility Use

Swim meets are competitive athletic events. Swimmers and their families are not encouraged to use amenities such as baby pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, or basketball courts during the meet. Swimmers should focus on resting, hydrating, and preparing for their events. Chess and card games are great options between events!

Locker Rooms & Restrooms

Restroom facilities are shared by swimmers and adults. Showers are reserved for competing swimmers. Please use facilities respectfully and help keep them clean.

Sportsmanship

Great sportsmanship is expected from both swimmers and families. Whether we are visiting another team or hosting at home, let's represent the Makos with respect, positivity, and good character.

Thank you for helping make our events and meets a success.

See you tonight and bright and early tomorrow!

CHOMP!
