Makos Season Kicks-Off TOMORROW May 26th!
Happy Memorial Day, Makos Families!
Practice begins this week:
We are so excited to see Makos back on deck this week as we kick off our summer swim season tomorrow evening, May 26th!
When you arrive at the pool, there will be a check-in table at the gate where you can find your swimmer’s name and assigned “lane color.” After the coaches’ call each age-group huddle, swimmers will head to the lane marked with their assigned cone color.
Please be patient during this first week of practice as we work through logistics, get everyone settled in, and most importantly, make sure all swimmers are having fun!
Please be sure to turn on your SwimTopia app notifications for last minute weather/practice announcements.
Swimmer's should wear their suit, googles, and bring a towel! We will have swim caps available at the check-in table. If you ordered gear during registration or need to pick-up t-shirts, there will be Makos gear available for purchase at the check-in table this first week of practice.

Makos Team Handbook
Please review our updated Team Handbook. The Meadowbrook Makos Swim Team handbook covers the mission, practice and meet schedules, social events, coaching guidelines, swim meet information, volunteering, Mini-Makos program, awards, and safety rules/code of conduct.
Time Trials: Monday, June 1 (5:45-7:15pm)
We will have a quick time trials "meet" on Monday, June 1. Each swimmer will swim freestyle only. Please make sure your swimmer is "opted-out" if they can NOT attend by Saturday, May 30th. See below for more information about opting in and out of swim meets. We will have pizza and drinks available for purchase during Time Trials on 6/1.
Swim Meet OPT-IN/OPT-OUT
We understand that, at the end of the school year, swimmers may have conflicts with concerts, awards ceremonies, other sports, and family activities. There is no attendance sheet, and you do not need to notify the board or coaches about occasional daily absences.
However, if your swimmer will be away from the pool for an extended period of time — such as for a family vacation, camp, or another ongoing commitment — please communicate that with the coaches.
As we get closer to our first meet, we ask that you confirm with the coaches whether your swimmer is ready to compete. By default, all competition swimmers are automatically OPTED IN for swim meets unless otherwise indicated.
If your swimmer will NOT be attending any meets, please OPT OUT as soon as possible. This helps coaches plan relay teams and keeps our heats full. Meets are now “pre-seeded,” meaning swimmers who are not opted out will still appear on the roster, resulting in empty lanes if they do not attend.
If you are unsure right now, no worries — coaches will provide guidance once we are back on deck.
